Stem Event December 2020
The STEM day for Year 9 was organised by the Small Piece Trust who supplied the materials and equipment for the day, and we had online talks from GKN Aerospace, EasyJet and Guidant Global and Luton Council.
The day was about practically exploring the physics of flight through concepts such as aerodynamics and forces, students designed and constructed an aeroplane. The plane was powered by a propeller mechanism and the fuselage was constructed out of balsa wood.
In the afternoon, each group tested their plane to see which flew the furthest distance.
It was amazing to see them fly the whole length of the gym.
The CREST award is the STEM version of a Duke of Edinburgh's and will be an asset for students’ CV's.
