MFL Day
Modern Foreign Language Days
Students were given the opportunity to experience a Modern Foreign Language day delivered by a MFL SLE from the local teaching school. This gave students a chance to hear, read, speak and write in French and German. Students learnt the phonics in the languages to help them learn how to pronounce words accurately in French and German by using Marvel film trailers. In addition, the students used Duolingo to learn further about the languages. The experience allowed students to think about the language they would like to study at GCSE.
"A few weeks ago our school participated in an MFL day. (Modern Foreign Languages). During the day we learnt French and German, including how to say hello, foods, drink, what we like, don’t like and much more. I really enjoyed this day because it introduced a new language that I had never been exposed to (German). That day also enlarged my French knowledge by learning the proper pronunciation of words.
After learning facts, words and meanings we went to the ICT suite and tested our knowledge which also helped with spelling and listening skills on the Duolingo website. Overall I really loved this day and would love to have another language day in the near future."
