The Houghton Regis Academy provides for the needs of children who live in Houghton Regis and the surrounding area.
The Academy has now received formal approval to change the age range from 9-13 years to 11-18 years, effective from 1 September 2013, creating a full secondary age Academy.
- From 1 September 2013, the Academy will have pupils in years 6, 7, 8 and 9. All pupils who were in the Academy will move up a year and there will be additional admissions in year 7.
- From 1 September 2014, the Academy will have pupils in years 7, 8, 9 and 10. All pupils who were in the Academy will move up a year, with new admissions in year 7.
- The Academy will then grow a year at a time until 1 September 2017 when it will have pupils in all years from year 7 to year 13.
Pupils will be admitted without reference to ability or aptitude using the criteria set out in this policy. Admission to our Academy is not dependent on any ‘voluntary’ contribution.
The Academy participates in the Local Authority co-ordinated scheme and all deadlines within that should be adhered to by applicants.
For all pupil admissions to the Houghton Regis Academy please contact the Central Bedfordshire Council, details are listed below:

Parents do have the right to appeal if refused a place at the Academy. If refused admission you should contact the Academy, in writing, to lodge an appeal.
Appeals should be made within twenty (20) days of the date of refusal.
In accordance with the School Admissions Code, all admission authorities are required to consult at least once every seven years even if there have been no changes during that period.
As the Houghton Regis Academy formally opened in April 2012, we must consult for the 2019/20 academic year. There have been no alterations to our Admissions policy.
Following the requirements of the Schools Admissions Code, the Academy must go out to consultation on this for a full six week period.
The statutory consultation period for the Houghton Regis Academy will run from:
Monday 20 November 2017 to Friday 12 January 201
Comments are invited from parents and also Local Authorities, local schools and other Admissions Authorities on this proposal.
