Welcome from the Principal
Dear Parent/Carer
May I firstly take this opportunity to thank you for choosing Houghton Regis Academy for your child’s secondary education.
Although the transition from year 6 to year 7 can been seen by many students to be an exciting time we are aware that for some it can be a time of apprehension.
As you and your child prepare to embark on their journey through our Academy, I would like to reassure you that myself and my fellow teachers and support staff are already preparing for September. As professionals we know how important Year 7 is for all students and as an Academy, we don’t only just believe that every child matters, we believe every child has a voice and that it deserves to be heard and valued.
As I am sure you can appreciate the Covid 19 virus has thrown us all, including our Academy, into unprecedented times and, as a result, we are unable to deliver what would have been our ‘normal transition programme’.
As I mentioned earlier, starting a new school often raises lots of questions for both students and parents. To support with this, our Head of Transition Miss Bowen and her team have put together a booklet with essential information which includes how the transition process will roll out for our new year 7’s;
‘Be Inspired’ the Motto of our Academy is more than just words to all members of staff, whether that be within the sporting arena, on the stage, as a writer, composer or mathematician, our staff are dedicated to opening doors for every student on their pathway to success.
I am very proud to be the Principal of Houghton Regis Academy where we celebrate the achievements of all, across all spectrums of school life.
I look forward to welcoming you and your child to personally in September.
